This Week of Action is focussed on Exploitation and runs from 16 to 20 October 2023.
Monday 16 October: Exploitation and the link with Education
Virtual via teams 12pm – 1pm
In this session you will hear more about how the Virtual School works with colleagues across the education department to support children and how you can make a difference as their ‘education champion’. The remit of the Virtual School has recently been extended to include strategic oversight of the education of children who have been open to Social Care on Child Protection or Child in Need Plan in the past 6 years. The DfE Children in Need Review found that these children are more likely to be suspended or excluded from school and this can increase the risk of exploitation.
Thursday 19 October: Exploitation Roundtable
In person at Trafford Town Hall – 9.30am – 1pm
The session will be facilitated across the Partnership with sessions on SHINE/Missing from home, substance misuse, mentoring, exclusions, youth justice, sextortion, urban street gangs and an interactive workshop on identifying and responding as a multiagency partnership to a young person who may be at risk of exploitation.
